Light Up A Life For Someone You Love This Christmas

Last year’s Light up a Life service was held at Guildford Cathedral, and the names of those being remembered will be projected onto the cathedral again this year. Hart plans to welcome Afghan families

Hart District Council is planning to welcome Afghan families next month as part of the resettlement scheme announced by the Government. The UK has been running a scheme to support locally employed staff in Afghanistan, often in dangerous and challenging situations, in recognition of their commitment and bravery shown supporting UK forces since 2013. In April 2021, this was extended to include a relocation scheme to the UK.

Hart resident prosecuted for cutting down protected trees

A Fleet resident has been ordered to pay more than £2,000 after pleading guilty to cutting down protected trees in a conservation area.  Basingstoke Magistrates Court found earlier this month that the two trees – a sycamore and a cypress – in the North Fleet Conservation Area were removed contrary to a Hart District Council Decision Notice issued on 30 January 2018. This allowed for the felling of several trees at the defendant’s address but clearly stated this did not include the sycamore or cypress.

Local Hospice Care charity Phyllis Tuckwell is launching an appeal for donations of good quality autumn/winter clothing and accessories, for it to sell in its 18 charity shops, which are located throughout West Surrey and North-East Hampshire.

Puma Helicopter Flypast near Fleet

The first Puma helicopters were delivered into service in 1971. To mark the 50th Anniversary there is a flypast of up to 10 Puma Helicopters on 7th July which will pass near to Fleet.
