Jayda Pechová from Fleet is nominated for the One-to-Watch Awards

Netball player Jayda Pechová from Fleet and 18 years old has been nominated for the SportsAid One-to-Watch Awards.

Jadya’s achievements already include:

  • Gold at the Europe Netball Under-21s Championships 2021 and Under-19s Championships 2022
  • Winners of the National Performance League 2022 (Grand Final) with London Pulse (Under-21s)
  • Runners-up in the National Performance League 2022 with London Pulse (Under-21s)

Jayda is among 10 athletes selected from around 1,000 rising British stars from more than 60 different sports during 2022. Each year, athletes are nominated by their sport’s governing body on the strength of their talent and potential, with the One-to-Watch Award gaining  a strong reputation for identifying the best up-and-coming prospects.

These awards were founded by the charity in 2006 and the first winner was Tom Daley ) Tom Daley OBE, Hollie Arnold MBE, Courtney Tulloch and Alex Yee MBE – all of whom have amassed over 50 senior medals from Olympic and Paralympic Games, World and European Championships, as well as the Commonwealth Games.

The winner will be chosen by a panel of experts that includes Olympians, Paralympians, Commonwealth champions and award-winning sports journalists and the winner will be announced at the charity’s Celebrate the Next event, supported by Royal Bank of Canada, in London on Thursday 17 November.
