First Aid Training

As an employer you are legally required to arrange for the immediate care of any staff who have an accident or become ill while they are at work.

Fleet BID is offering free one day Emergency First Aid at Work training courses for BID businesses.

The QA Level 3 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work (RQF) qualification is designed for individuals who wish to act as an emergency first aider in the workplace. Upon successful completion of this qualification, candidates will be equipped with the essential skills to give safe, prompt and effective first aid in emergency situations.

The course will cover:

  • The roles and responsibilities of an emergency first aider
  • Assessing an incident
  • Managing an unresponsive casualty
  • CPR and defibrillation
  • Recovery position
  • Choking
  • Seizures
  • Shock
  • Wounds and bleeding
  • Minor injuries (cuts, grazes and bruises; minor scalds and burns)

Course Dates

Courses for 2020 are as follows:

  • Tuesday 11th February
  • Tuesday 9th June
  • Thursday 8th October

Mental Health First Aid Training

The course will provide attendees with the understanding and skills to support people who might be struggling with mental health issues or caring for a friend or family member who is suffering. They are also able to act as advocate for mental health in the workplace and raise awareness of the issue and wider support available.

Fire Warden Training

Fire Warden Training enable business owners to meet their legal responsibilities but also provide additional information on what to do in the event of a fire as well as hands on exercise using fire extinguishers. Course content includes:

  • Overview of fire legislation
  • Common causes of fire
  • Fire behaviour in buildings
  • Principles of fire prevention
  • Action if a fire breaks out
  • Correct use of fire extinguishers
  • Emergency evacuation planning
  • How people react in fire situations
  • Buildings safety features
  • The role of the warden in the event of a fire
  • Safe evacuation and fire assembly
  • Introduction to and practical use of fire extinguishers

Please note: where courses are available free of charge , once you have reserved a place if you fail to attend the training and cannot send a substitute the full cost of the training will be invoiced to you to cover the cost of the training course and materials.
