Results from 2018

Over 40 businesses in Fleet took part in Fleet BID’s Up Your Game Up Your Gain challenge 2018 and attended the Customer Service Awards ceremony recognising excellence within the town.

‘Up Your Game, Up Your Gain’, was a programme designed to celebrate excellence and offer a helping hand to those who need some improvement. It was funded by Fleet Business Improvement District.

The project consisted of over 40 independent retailers and businesses who were visited by a mystery shopper who rated them on a number of factors including window display, interior layout and customer service.
25 businesses were recognised for their high standards of service by receiving a Bronze or Silver award. Gold awards were given for outstanding customer service to Brown & White opticians, KJM Salons and Tackle Up outdoor specialists.

The overall winner was Captured Moment.

Fleet was also ranked against other towns locally and, with an overall average score of 90%, came top amongst similar towns.

Jim Smith of Shopper Anonymous, who carried out the surveys, said “the results show that the town has a high number of shops and businesses that give customers a great experience, a vital factor if visitors are to return. Repeatable footfall is what all High Streets crave, so this is all great news for retailers who suffer intense competition from bigger neighbours and the internet. On the evidence, and with such a range of interesting and eclectic businesses, Fleet is a great place to go to shop and spend time.”

Emma Molyneux, Chair of Fleet BID said, “These awards are further recognition of the excellent reputation Fleet has for its independent retail and business offer and every business which took part will get a report on their business highlighting what they did well and if there are opportunities to improve. This project is one of the many initiatives the BID has delivered to provide specific support businesses in the town and improve our trading environment.”
