Green Energy Scheme to Cut Bills and Carbon Emissions

A new initiative from Hart District Council aims to save residents money on electricity bills and reduce carbon emissions.

The Council has teamed up with iChooser to offer Solar Together, through which home owners and small and medium-sized businesses can buy solar panels and battery storage at competitive prices.

Solar electricity panels, also known as photovoltaics (PV), capture the sun’s energy and convert it into electricity that can be used in homes or businesses, saving money on bills.

Because the sun provides a clean and renewable source of energy, the technology helps reduce CO₂ emissions and contributes to a more sustainable future of energy production.

Hart residents and businesses can join the group-buying scheme, which offers solar PV with optional battery storage. It also provides retrofit battery storage for residents who have already invested in solar PV and are looking to increase their independence from the grid.

It is free to register and there is no obligation to go ahead with an installation.

Councillor Alan Oliver, Cabinet member for Climate Change, said: “The need for an energy supply that is both clean and affordable to our residents is of vital importance to tackle both the climate crisis and cost of living issues in a sustainable way.

“Investing in solar energy saves money on electricity bills and increases independence from the grid. We believe the Solar Together scheme is a great opportunity to promote the use of green energy and reduce carbon emissions.”
