Why employers need to know about autism

Autism Friendly Fleet presents

An evening talk by Caroline Hearst

The myths vs the reality of autism
Strengths autistic people have to offer in the workplace
The sort of accommodations that would help autistic people build on their strengths and mitigate their challenges
The sort of HR practices that would help autistic people regardless of whether they have an official diagnosis
Caroline Hearst qualified as an art-psychotherapist and worked in a variety of roles including librarian, trade union recruiter, and adult educator before discovering that she is autistic. Caroline credits her discovery that she is autistic with enabling her to understand herself and transform her life.
Caroline now works at Autism Matters as an autism educator offering CPD and consultations about autism. She prides herself on developing talks and trainings which offer an informed insider perspective on autism.
Caroline is also the founder and a director of AutAngel, a community interest company run by and for autistic adults. In this capacity she edited “Being Autistic” and developed “Exploring Being Autistic” an innovative post identification peer support programme which has been positively evaluated by Dr Laura Crane of CRAE.
