Geno Washington and the Ram Jam Band

Geno originates from Evansville in Indiana, USA and first came to England in the 1960's as part of the US Air Force. His love of Blues and Soul music soon found him jamming with local bands in and around Ipswich and eventually led him to London where he caused a sensation singing with top R&B acts Georgie Fame and the Blue Flames and Zoot Money's Big Roll Band at the legendary Flamingo Club in Soho. The rest, as they say, is history.

Geno teamed up with some of London's hottest musicians and Geno Washington and the Ram Jam Band very quickly became established as the most exciting live band in Britain, regularly topping the bill over World famous artistes, as nobody in their right mind wanted to go on stage after a Geno show!

His live shows were immortalised in two of the biggest selling albums of the 60’s - "Hand Clappin' Foot Stompin' Funky Butt Live" and "Hipsters Flipsters and Finger Poppin' Daddies". His status as the undisputed "King of Soul" was cemented forever by Kevin Rowland and Dexy's Midnight Runners in the 1980’s with the World-wide No.1 smash hit single "Geno", which paid homage to the great man himself and is still played regularly today on national radio and at Geno's live gigs both before and after shows.

    Ultimate Elton

Some tribute artists look like their idol, some sound like their idol. Paul Bacon as Sir Elton John does both! Close your eyes and you won’t believe your ears, open your eyes and you won’t believe them either! You simply won’t find a closer tribute to Sir Elton John.

Rapidly established as the foremost Elton John tribute act in the UK, ‘Ultimate Elton and The Rocket Band’ present an uncannily accurate reproduction of the classic live shows of one of pop music’s most successful and best-loved artists - performances that also often feature some of Elton’s actual costumes, bought from his ‘Out the Closet’ sales!

Paul as Ultimate Elton received the ultimate accolade recently when he was asked to perform with his band at the 90th birthday celebrations of Elton John’s very own mother - Sheila Fairbrother. Among the guests which included close friends, relatives and celebrities was Kiki Dee who sang the classic “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart’ with Paul and the band. Paul says, “It was a fabulous night, and one I’m sure we will remember for many many years!”

Ultimate Elton and The Rocket Band are now much in demand at festivals and theatres throughout the UK and beyond. They are certainly one of the top tribute acts working on the circuit today and this has recently been recognized at the recent National Tribute Awards, run by the influential ‘The Agents Association’ of Great Britain, who awarded the band ‘Official UK No 1’ for performances as the ever popular Elton John Band!

    James Taylor Quartet

Lead by Hammond organ-guru, James Taylor, JTQ stands with one foot planted in 2019, and other, just as firmly, somewhere south of the 1970s.

For more than 25 years, The James Taylor Quartet have set the standard for the coolest sounds in funky acid jazz. On dozens of mighty albums and at their legendary gigs at home and around the world, they’ve quietly become a byword for distinguished British creativity.

In addition to his work with JTQ – James has collaborated with the likes of U2, The Wonderstuff, Manic Street Preachers, The Pogues, as well as with Tom Jones on the multi-platinum album Reload.

JTQ are perhaps best-known and best-loved for their unrivalled live performances. With James’s Hammond leading the way, JTQ jam out with funky rhythms and kitschy-cool melodies - their concerts include reworkings of classics such as Green Onions and Time Is Tight, as well as JTQ’s debut single Blow Up, JTQ Theme and, of course, the inimitable, Starsky and Hutch.

2022 marks the 67th anniversary of Fleet & District Carnival

Fleet & District Carnival has been at the heart of Fleet community since 1956 and is a very much-loved tradition. It brings together our local community, by having some fun and raising money for local charities. After having to postpone the last two years, we are pleased to announce the 2022 carnival will be taking place on Saturday 2nd July and is going to be an amazing day of fun for all the family.

The carnival caters for all with FREE entry, giving you access to a wide variety of attractions and events. With entertainment, refreshments and a series of events showcasing local talents that everyone can take part in – there is something for everyone!

Fleet and District Carnival is organised by local volunteers and the funds that are raised go towards the running of the carnival. As the carnival is non-profit making, any donations made via our procession buckets are donated to our chosen charity, which this year is Church Crookham & Fleet Men’s Shed.

Carnival takes many work hours, manpower and money to run and whilst we couldn’t do it without the Committee, we also couldn’t do it without the local businesses & residents of the Hart district that continue to support us.

    Who are Starburst;
Starburst is a registered children’s charity aiming to support children with special needs in the Surrey, Berkshire, Hampshire borders.

    How it all began…
Starburst Theatre Company was formed in 1991 as a result of successful theatre productions which raised money for local children’s charities.

Over the years, the Theatre Company donated tens of thousands of pounds and so, in 2005 Starburst formed its own registered children’s charity.

    What does Starburst do today?
Since formation, Starburst has continued to donate directly to children who need specialized equipment in order to assist with their daily lives.

Starburst prides itself in helping to enrich the lives of local children through providing bespoke or specialized equipment. In the past 5 years, Starburst has made a number of donations of this kind, all of which have resulted in building self esteem, improving confidence or providing independence.

Today Starburst raises money through a variety of different ways, such as:
Starburst Theatre Company who perform regular shows
Starburst Hire - with costume and technical hire (e.g. – sound and lighting hire)
    Attending local events
Hosting events such as quiz nights
    Donations from the public

    Alan Barnes presents Copperfield
    Date: Tuesday 19th July
    Doors: 7.15pm / Bar: 7:15pm / Show: 8.00pm
    Tickets: £20 General Admission

Like the Dickens classic itself, Alan Barnes’s “Copperfield” has something for everyone. A great night out that is also a treat for the jazz connoisseur; it will delight anyone who loves music or literature – or just being entertained!

This new suite of pieces, touring for the first time this year, takes the audience through the characters and scenes of ‘David Copperfield”. Readings from the original Dickens tell the story, and after each scene eight virtuoso musicians bring the characters and scenes to life, switching audiences from hilarity to pathos with a skill that would have done credit to Dickens himself!

A cheery clarinet plays Copperfield, the lost orphan Little Em’ly is a lyrical tenor, Mr Dick flies his kite in the personage of a soaring flugelhorn and trombone, Mr Micawber expresses “Something will turn up!”on the piano and Uriah Heep writhes around on the bass clarinet. Just as we see David progress through the trials of his life, so the movements of this suite seem to develop along with him.

The music and readings inspire the full range of Dickens’s imagination and emotion: from loneliness and remorse through to love and then irresistible joy.

”Barnes is a true Dickensian. He is a serious reader of the novels. It is a clear blunder of providence that he was born too late to appear in their pages!” - Hot News

Alan Barnes – Saxophone, Clarinet and Bass Clarinet

    Bruce Adams – Trumpet

    Mark Nightingale – Trombone

Robert Fowler – Saxophones and Clarinet

    The Low Down

Some of you may already be Silent Summer Screeners (welcome back, we’ve missed you!) To those of you who are new here… you are in for a real treat.

Join us for a magical evening under the stars with live music, great food (perhaps a cheeky drink..) and an amazing movie.

But that’s not all! We do things a little differently around here…

We use wireless headphones for the event’s sound! We’re simultaneously celebrating the great outdoors and creating a cosy and immersive experience… How cool is that? PLUS, making this a silent screening allows us to put these events on in your community without disturbing the local residents and wildlife. Everyone wins!

    What to expect

We set up our events in communities that we truly care about and putting on these events allows us to celebrate them and their beautiful local green spaces.

Events begin at check-in where you’ll show your tickets and collect your headphones. Here you can also stock up on a variety of snacks and drinks. Fancy something a bit more substantial? We got you. We’ve got the finest local caterers joining us all evening to satisfy your appetite.

Next, head over to your chosen spot and set up camp. You can bring anything you like to sit on – blankets, chairs, cushions … heck we’ve even had people bring a sofa! We don’t mind, as long as you leave the area as beautiful as you found it. You can also bring tents and small gazebos if you’re worried about the weather, just make sure they’re tied down securely and not blocking anyone’s view. Our lovely stewards are walking around to make sure everyone has a good spot.

While the sun makes its way to the horizon, you’ll be treated to an incredible performance by one of our amazing Silent Summer Screenings musicians. Be sure to keep an eye on your emails to see who’s performing on the night!

Then finally, darkness descends and we’re ready to delve into the movie, all quiet and all together.

We can’t wait to spend the summer with you ♥️

To get to know us better, follow us on Facebook and Instagram and check out our website to get the full low down. Got questions? We got answers! Head over to our FAQ’s page for all the info you need! Tickets here

We require a £10 refundable deposit on the night for the wireless headphones. Headphones will be provided from the marquee once you're checked in and have been scanned. Deposits are returned when you return your headphones.

Having only just run their much-anticipated annual show in July last year due to lockdowns and restrictions, the band are looking forward to returning in September for 2022.

Opening the show this time around will be the sensational John O’Leary’s Sugarkane. As usual they’ve been hand-picked by Northsyde to join them on this special night and will be a massive addition to the bill. These nights are always about both bands and of course the legendary end of night jam session, which usually throws up one or two surprise guests.

Northsyde are no ordinary band and almost impossible to categorise, attracting rave reviews wherever they play. They can best be summed up as a grooving combination of rock, funk, blues, jazz and soul, hitting the stage like a whirlwind. So if you like your live music exciting, fun and full of surprises… don’t miss it!

We’re honoured that Northsyde continue to launch the year for us here at The Harlington in such blistering style. Nights like this are unique and it will sell out, so we recommend that you book now to avoid disappointment.

“One of the most convincing and utterly outstanding tribute bands I have ever come across in all my years as a Stage reviewer. Stayin’ Alive is the only Bee Gees tribute band I have seen that cuts the mustard in a live situation. Compelling viewing, given the lookalike quality and a sheer delight to listen to, Stayin’ Alive are the definitive Bee Gees tribute band. In my view, they have no equal” The Stage Newspaper, Mark Ritchie

    Connor Selby Band
    Sunday 18th September
    Doors: 1.15pm / Show: 2:00pm
    Tickets: £15 General Admission

We are very excited about welcoming Connor Selby to the Harlington, for a long overdue headline performance. Connor has played for us before, but this time he is bringing the full band to The Harlington stage. This young man is a rising British star on the UK scene and is drenched in the traditions of Eric Clapton and Peter Green. If you want any endorsement of his talents, he has already performed with his band at Wembley Stadium, at the age of 22, at the behest of The Who.

Winner of The Young Artist of the Year Award in the 2020 and 2021 UK Blues Awards, the young bandleader-guitarist-vocalist draws on influences as diverse as B.B. King, Ray Charles, Free and Nick Drake, creating a soulful blend of hard-hitting blues and emotional, introspective song writing, which, at times, evokes a modern take on the best of the British blues boom of the 1960’s.

Connor has recently released a self-titled album, recorded at Masterlink studios and featuring 'Redtenbacher's Funkestra', a house band of world class musicians. Their individual CV's will make your mouth water, with contributions to the work of elite artists, such as Elton John, David Bowie, Annie Lennox and Jack Bruce. The album further cements Connor's reputation as one of our brightest young talents; a talent who has already garnered invitations to tour with not only with legendary Bluesman John Mayall but also a UK stadium tour with the aforementioned The Who.

We only book nice people and Connor is a gentleman who will give you an afternoon’s entertainment to remember.

It's Terry is a brand new knock about show introduced by the world famous character performer 'Richie Raganoo' - who by his own omission, says Terry Alderton is the "weakest character he does. But his most successful!"

It's Terry has narrative, it's a throw it up and see where it lands kind of show. So those that Know, Know, and those who don't...will!

    It's Terry!!!

Terry is one of the most exciting comedians around, regularly performing all over the globe and picking up the odd award. He has played the Melbourne Comedy Festival, New Zealand Comedy Festival, India, Edinburgh Comedy Festival, Canadas Just For Laughs, Dublin and Galway Comedy Festivals and many more. He is also recognisable to fans as character 'Terry Spraggan' in BBC EastEnders and 'Charlie Mead' in London's Burning.

His TV stand up credits include Live At The Apollo (BBC), Dave's One Night Stand (Dave), Comedy Road Show (BBC), The Stand Up Show (BBC), Live At The Comedy Store (Comedy Central), Just For Laughs Comedy Gala (Montreal), All Stars Comedy Gala (Melbourne), All Stars Gala (New Zealand), and The Waverley Gala (Edinburgh).

Terry has also written and performed in three series of his BBC Radio 4 show 'Terry Alderton's All Crazy Now'.

"...Unstable and deliciously unexpected" - The Guardian

"He's proved himself as a comedian of dizzying inventiveness" - The Times

"A fantastic comedy mind" - Eddie Izzard (Lost Python, Runnner)

"The feeling that you get in a room when the comedy is this good is unique. The audience becomes a single entity, bound by laughter and enjoyment. It is a powerful and rarely felt effect and you really must experience it. Thank you, Terry Alderton, for giving me the comedy thrill of a lifetime." - Kate Copstick, The Scotsman.

"To call The Doors Alive merely a tribute act would be a huge disservice to what is the closest thing possible to experiencing a Doors concert without the aid of a flux capacitor and 1.21 gigawatts.” - Pure Magazine, Ireland.

The band recreate the sound, look, presence and magic of a real 1960's Doors concert, perfectly and effortlessly transporting the audience back in time with classic hits such as "Light My Fire", "When The Music's Over", "Riders On The Storm", "The End" and many more. Having formed in 2005, The Doors Alive have over 1,000 shows under their belt to date.

They take pride in using the exact same vintage equipment to achieve an authentic sound, and have left awestruck audiences in several countries around the world, whilst repeatedly selling out some of the most well established venues in Europe. They have played at the legendary Isle of Wight Festival, and in Chile the band played an arena show to 4,500 Doors fans!

Since 2011, Black Sabbitch have been selling out shows and wowing even the most difficult to please Sabbath worshipers, gaining the respect of critics, fans and musicians alike. They have become festival favourites, consistently performing with some of the world’s biggest acts, were hand-picked by Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne to open the inaugural Ozzfiesta and by Dave Grohl to play Cal Jam with Foo Fighters and Iggy Pop, after which the FooFighters shared photos of Black Sabbitch saying "we were spellbound.” Electroclash superstar Peaches recently sat in as lead vocalist with Black Sabbitch for a special two-night run in Los Angeles.

“Finally Black Sabbitch took the stage and pretty much melted everyone's faces. The all-female Black Sabbath... were not only talented — nailing every note of the legendary group's familiar repertoire — but were captivating to an almost distracting level.” The LA Weekly

“Don’t call Black Sabbitch a tribute. They are the female version of Black Sabbath. They bring a new shine to old doom. Indeed, they rock the living hell out of Sabbath’s catalog.‘ San Diego Reader

The Harlington in association with The Underground Music Club presents…
Dom Martin Band “A Savage Live” Tour
    Plus Special Guests: Brave Rival
    Sunday 23rd October
    Doors: 1.15pm / Show: 2:00pm
    Tickets: £15 General Admission

We are delighted to welcome Dom Martin back to The Harlington as part of the “A Savage Life” Tour. Dom recorded his ‘Live at The Harlington’ album in 2021 and the boys are back in town with their own brand of high energy Blues Rock. Dom has an affinity with this venue and town, having played a number of shows for The Underground Music Club, both as a solo act and with Dave Thompson (Bass) and Laurence McKeown (Drums).

Hailing from Belfast, Dom traded his craft for a time locally without a (self-confessed) clue about how to break into the (international) music business and possibly with too much humility to try. 'Discovered' by his present management team (Fenton & Audrey Parsons), Dom has made a 'meteoric' rise in terms of today's industry, with his first ever EP release attracting BBC 6 music and BBC Radio 2 support - including a converted session with Cerys Matthews. He now has a number of international tours and Festivals either conquered or under his belt, and is building a loyal following wherever he plays. His jaw dropping, entirely natural sound and unforced/unschooled skill on acoustic guitar, matched with an authentic 'Belfast Blues' voice, brings to mind comparisons with many from (Glasgow born) John Martyn to Rory Gallagher, with nods to many in-between not least perhaps the likes of Van Morrison and Foy Vance.

Dom was awarded Best Solo/Acoustic Act in the European Blues Awards 2019 and having been nominated for three categories in the 2020 and 2021 UK Blues Awards, picked up Best Acoustic Blues Artist in both years, And he’s not done yet, with a further three nominations in the same awards for 2022. Dom has also been invited by the UK Blues Federation to represent the UK at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis USA in May!

Dom is a star – Fact. Don’t miss him.

Dom will be ably supported by another Harlington favourite in the shape of Brave Rival, a band raising eyebrows wherever they play. After a very busy 2021, they are now very much the band of the moment and the future is looking incredibly bright for this crowd pleasing collective. A successful set on the introducing stage at the 2022 Great British Rhythm and Blues Festival in Skegness saw them win the competition, securing a deserved place on the main stage in 2023.

This is a feelgood band, where the beautiful twin vocals of Chloe Josephine and Lindsey Bonnick are complimented by Ed Clarke (Lead guitar), Billy Dedman (Bass) and Donna Peters (Drums).

Since their inception in the summer of 2019, Brave Rival have gone from strength to strength, featuring in Raw Ramp Magazine as one of the 'Top 20 Bands To Watch In 2020' and nominated for 'Breakthrough Act 2019' by Get Ready To Rock Radio. The icing on the cake is a 2022 UK Blues Award Nomination for Best Emerging Blues Band into the bargain.

BR have earned their dues, relentlessly gigging and winning some prestigious support tour slots with the likes of UK Blues legend Stevie Nimmo and The Bill Walton Band from the US.

With a critically acclaimed live album (‘Live at the Echo Hotel Music Club’) and their first studio album (Life’s machine) due in May, this is a band on their way.

Come and enjoy this afternoon of spectacular entertainment.

It takes a special group of musicians to authentically re-create the distinctive UB40 sound and the members of RU40 have many years of doing just so. It has been said that lead singer Danny sounds more like Ali Campbell than the man himself! RU40 are one of the most uplifting live acts around, so come and join the party!

A tribute to “The Greatest Rock’n’Roll Band” the world has seen, focusing on the early part of their career from 1964-1969 including “Jumping Jack Flash”, “Paint It Black”, “Not Fade Away”, & “Satisfaction”. Enthusiastic fans rate the band very highly and those from the Stones inner circle liked them so much, they booked them for a band member’s birthday party!

The costumes are shamelessly camp gaudy and fab, the instruments genuinely vintage and the wit irreverent. However, while the tongue is never far from the cheek, it is never to the detriment of the music.

For those who witnessed the Stones in their heyday, this is a chance to revisit lost youth, for the rest, now’s your chance to see what all the fuss was about.

”…probably more authentic than the Stones themselves would be inclined to muste” - The Times

”…about as true to the original as you can get” - Times Magazine

”A magnificent Mick…exquisitely designed costumes…spot-on guitar playing” - Mail On Sunday

Over the years the race has developed and now includes a 5km event and is now known as The Fleet 10km. The route has changed over the years too but we never forget when and why the race was started. From the early days the races have always been organised by volunteers from the host club, Fleet & Crookham AC and this continues today. An event “organised by runners, for runners” it sits alongside the other major event organised by the club – the annual Fleet Half Marathon.

    The Mentulls
    Sunday 6th November
    Doors: 1.15pm / Show: 2:00pm
    Tickets: £15 General Admission

We are so pleased to welcome The Mentulls to The Harlington for the first time.

Winning over audiences with their own brand of progressive melodic rock, The Mentulls music transcends genres, sounding new and fresh yet timeless and classic all at the same time.

Andrew’s searing, soaring guitar work, Jamie’s ‘prog star’ style Hammond, synthesiser and piano work plus the soulful vocals and multi-instrumental prowess of David Neil Crabtree, make The Mentulls something truly unique and special.

Being genre defying and original has been the band’s objective since it was formed by Andrew & Jamie back in 2008. In the years following the formation of the band, they have carved themselves a niche on the international rock scene, impressing a growing fan base and critics alike.

As well as touring internationally in their own right, the band have earned their stripes opening for and touring with legendary acts like Wishbone Ash, Focus & Walter Trout. They are also equally at home on major festival stages sharing the bill with the likes of The Stranglers, Feeder, FM and Cats In Space.
Away from the band, each of its members are respected in their own right, having worked with everyone from Grammy award winners to rock legends. Andrew is British Blues Award nominated, one of the youngest to be nominated for the award, two years running. David’s own work as a singer/songwriter is highly acclaimed and Jamie works with a multitude of top artists outside of the band.

The brand-new studio album, ‘Recipe For Change’ was released on 22nd October 2020, where the core band were joined by world-class drummer and the albums co-producer Wayne Proctor and Raven Eye’s Oli Brown who adds backing vocals

“What an outstanding album The Mentulls have created with Recipe For Change. This band has such a great ear for melody it really is something to behold” - SEA OF TRANQUILITY

The Harlington in association with The Underground Music Club presents…
    Ian Parker Band
    Sunday 20th November
    Doors: 1.15pm / Show: 2:00pm
    Tickets: £15 General Admission

Ian Parker is an original song writing craftsman, delivering lyrically intelligent songs with a distinctive bitter-sweet vocal. He has the ability and willingness to share with his audience, naked honesty and genuine emotion; a rare quality that sets him apart.?

Ian's career took off in the summer of 2003 when he signed to Ruf Records, releasing his debut album 'Inside' in October of that year. Further albums, live DVDs and extensive tours of Europe and the USA followed, with Parker always seeking new musical avenues to explore, never content to merely rehash old ideas, no matter how successful they may have been. To this end, Ian is something of journeyman, guided by his art and his self-confessed emotional need to express his soul through music.

His career has taken unexpected turns, testing his loyal following from time to time, but the integrity of his writing, the quality of his distinctive voice and the soulful nature of his signature guitar playing have always been the bedrock of his work.?Following the release of ‘Politik Blues’ in April 2015, Ian refocused his attention on the Stratocaster-driven blues music he built his reputation on. In the summer of 2018 he released the blues album many long-standing fans and critics alike are lauding as his best work to date. ‘Spoonful of Gold – Blues for Willie’ celebrating the music of Willie Dixon, delivered in Ian’s inimitable style. ?Freed from the shackles of being the new kid on the block vying for attention in an over-saturated market, Parker approaches his music these days, with the calm, self-assurance that accompanies one who has, to some extent, been there and done it. Nothing to prove and still so much to say, Ian Parker remains an act not to be missed; don’t miss him.

The Harlington in association with The Underground Music Club presents…
    Elles Bailey Band
    Sunday 27th November
    Doors: 1.15pm / Show: 2:00pm
    Tickets: £17.50 General Admission

We are just so proud to be bringing Elles Bailey back to The Harlington once more. Elles was the first artist to perform for The Underground Music Club and we have been lucky enough to welcome her on a number of occasions since, including her outstanding full band show last November. Elles continues to confirm her status as the hardest-working woman in blues, rock and roots music. While others buckled and bowed under two years of disruption and inactivity, Elles continued to write several new chapters in a remarkable story.

The Bristol-based singer, songwriter and bandleader has powered her way to the forefront of the British blues and roots scene in recent years, and the tale of the tape just gets more impressive by the month. A relentless touring schedule throughout 2018/19 included tours with Grammy Award winning Mike Farris, Kris Barras and Martin Harley, with her own headline tours of the UK and Europe making people sit up and take serious notice. She has also moved her way up the festival listings, becoming a featured artist at key festivals throughout the UK and Europe including Black Deer, Swing Wesplaar, Ramblin Man Fair & the Great British R&B Festival, not to mention slots at Nashville's Americana Fest 2019. And 2021 just got better, with mainstage and headline slots at Red Rooster. Cheltenham Music/Jazz Fest, Basel Blues, Love Rocks, British Country Music Festival, Chagstock and Uckfield Blues.

In 2022 Elles continues to play prestigious events, including Joe Bonamassa's 'Keep the Blues Alive at Sea Cruise' in August.

And the awards keep on coming. After picking up numerous gongs at The UK Blues Awards, UK Americana Awards and European Blues Awards in recent years, she has recently been nominated once more as the ‘Blues Vocalist of the Year’ at the 2022 UK Blues Awards.

2022 also sees the eagerly-awaited third album ‘Shining in the Half Light’, which signals yet another significant step forward in a career already feted with awards and acclaim generated by her two previous studio sets, 2017's Wildfire and 2019's Road I Call Home. The difficult ‘third album’ scenario has proved not to be an issue for Elles, with the new offering attracting positive reviews from respected muso journalists and fans alike. Indeed that fan base just keeps on growing as the Bailey Midas touch continues to impress all in her path.

This is a hometown show for Elles (spiritually, if not geographically) and I ask you to come along and give her the party she deserves.
