    Sara Dowling
    Date: Tuesday 21st January
    Doors: 7:15pm / Bar: 7:15pm / Show: 8:00pm
    Tickets: £14 Cabaret Unreserved

Sara’s recent album From Shadows Into Light received five star reviews, with Jazz Views praising her “remarkable one off voice”, and Jazz Journal noting the “vocal with timeless quality”. She is known for her interpretations of classic ballads that leave audiences spellbound, as well as the energy and vigour with which she tackles the up-tempo standards from the American Song Book. Sara Dowling is a jazz singer who is deeply inspired by the repertoire of the classic American songbook. And yet, as the clubs who have been booking her regularly in the over the past couple of years – Ronnie Scott’s, the 606 and the Cinnamon Club – have spotted, there really is something different, special and fresh about her. And that she makes audiences want to come back to hear her again.

Fleet BID helps businesses in Fleet to eliminate Single Use Plastics

The Fleet Business Improvement District, FindYourFleet, is working in partnership with Hart District Council and Kate Cottrell from Scoop to encourage businesses in Fleet to make simple changes towards becoming single-use plastic free.

Kate Cottrell & Hart District Council are hosting a workshop on Thursday 5th March to introduce the issues surrounding single-use plastic within a working environment and find ways of reducing this damaging waste product.

The challenges are similar to a home environment, so wider participants are also welcome, as well as businesses.

At the end of the workshop the aim is that you will be able to produce a personal action plan to eliminate at least 3 forms single-use plastic waste within your organisation.

The workshop will also take a broader look at the general environment and find ways of making a commitment to doing your bit.

    When: Thursday 5 March- 9:30am – 11am

Where: Hart Business Centre, Fleet, GU51 4AE

Geno originates from Evansville in Indiana, USA and first came to England in the 1960's as part of the US Air Force. His love of Blues and Soul music soon found him jamming with local bands in and around Ipswich and eventually led him to London where he caused a sensation singing with top R&B acts Georgie Fame and the Blue Flames and Zoot Money's Big Roll Band at the legendary Flamingo Club in Soho. The rest, as they say, is history.

A Jazz violinist of considerable power and musicality, Chris Garrick is also highly regarded for his work with the likes of The Brand New Heavies, Van Morrison and Brian Ferry, as well as appearing on a significant number of film and TV soundtracks. He is also no stranger to the classical concert halls, but it is his Jazz violin for which he is best known. A fluent and inventive player with a string of awards to his name, his subtle yet driving playing is a testament to a thoughtful but at the same time joyous approach to the music.

    As seen on BBC1

Endorsed by the real “Blondie” and having had the honour of being mentioned on the band’s latest studio album “Pollinator” this is the closest you’ll get to the real thing. Lead vocalist Debbie Harris has the looks, the voice & the attitude of the original Blondie bombshell & like her heroine is typically outrageous on stage!

In 1930s New York jazz was the pop of its day and the music emanating from Manhattan’s radio stations, nightclubs, bars and dance halls was at its most swinging and exciting. Recreating the music of stars such as Fats Waller, Lionel Hampton, Benny Goodman, Louis Armstrong and Billie Holiday are some of the greatest names on today’s classic jazz scene, pianist Nick Dawson, trumpeter/singers Enrico Tomasso and Georgina Jackson, reedman Pete Long, bassist/guitarist Dave Chamberlain and drummer Richard Pite

If your company trades goods anywhere in the world, new border controls that start when the EU Transition period ends will mean that you MUST prepare for change NOW.

Change is inevitable as we will leave the single market, trade agreements we have now may be lost and others won, and our border and customs arrangements will be different from the way they operate today.

Whether you have previously prepared for no deal or not, the environment for traders has changed and recent announcements from Government mean change is more certain than ever. So, if you import or export, there are just 23 weeks to get ready for new systems and processes critical to your business.

Liam Smyth, Director of Trade Facilitation at the British Chambers of Commerce is a customs and trade expert, member of HMRC Joint Customs Consultative Committee, participates in a number of Government Expert trade Advisory Groups and represents British Chambers at the International Chambers Certificate of Origin Council. He is also a Director of ChamberCustoms, a customs brokering service operated by Chambers of Commerce.

Liam will provide insight and comment on the new UK Border Operating Model, advise on the actions you need to engage in now, signpost funding for trader readiness and comment on prospects for future trade.
