If you live or work in Fleet now is the time to have your say on the consultation of Fleet Town Council’s draft Neighbourhood Development Plan for the period 2018 – 2032.
The plan is designed to shape future development in Fleet and its objectives are to:
- create a vibrant, modern Civic Quarter in the town centre that will be fit to serve the expanding population and act as a key attractor for visitors
- ensure that development sites within the town are planned and built in such a way as to support the vitality of the town centre
- protect and improve the unique green character of Fleet, with its open space and parks, to ensure that its verdant arterial routes are preserved for the future, and new cycle networks link the town’s community assets
- make sure that the height and scale of any new development fits within its surroundings and complements and enhances the existing townscape.
The plan sets out 19 draft policies and proposals for the town including:
- Development of the Civic Quarter
- Consolidate and improve the retail offer in the town
- Expansion of growth areas in the town centre
- Improvements to the parks
- Provision of cycleways.
If you live or work in the area the plan could affect you and Fleet Town Council is requesting your views through the public consultation on the plan which closes on 15th June.

Paper versions of the document are available to read at the Town Council Offices and at the Hart Shopping Centre throughout the consultation period.

All comments should be received by 15 June 2018 at the latest.
What happens next?
- This Pre-Submission Plan will be revised taking consultation comments into account and sent to Hart District Council for consultation and to an independent Examiner.
- If approved the plan will go to a referendum area in the Fleet Town Council area
- If more than 50% of those people who vote agree to accept the Plan it will be formally adopted and become part of the statutory development plan for the District and will carry significant weight in how planning applications are decided.
