Sadly we have made the decision to cancel the Food Festival in June.
The BID is funded by businesses in the town and we have to ensure that we fully aware of the potential financial liability to the BID for any event we deliver or support. Some of the main elements can no longer be delivered in the way we anticipated at the outset which means it is not possible to put on the event at the same high standard without increasing costs significantly.
In addition, it is not possible to insure an event against cancellation for coronavirus. While this is a developing situation, and one that we all hope will be a distant memory by June, we are currently at a critical decision point as, should the event have to be cancelled once we have proceeded beyond this stage, the BID would incur considerable costs that could not be recovered.
We have therefore decided not to proceed with this event this year.
We know that this is a much loved event in the Fleet calendar, and attracts people from the surrounding areas and we regret having to take this decision. We would like to thank you for your support of this event in the past and hope that we can rely on your support for future BID events.
