Fleet BID organises High Street Solutions Webinar: Unlocking the Potential of the High Street

Fleet BID has started a series of High Street Solutions Webinars for businesses with the first on Thursday 12th November: Unlocking the Potential of the High Street

COVID-19 has accelerated the decline of the high street as a shopping destination. Although the country and the high street is in crisis, as a business community we have a unique opportunity to come together and create our collective vision to ensure Fleet becomes the heart of our community and provides the right environment for businesses to prosper. This is part of our continuing discussions with businesses to encourage suggestions to improve Fleet and respond to the changes taking place in high streets happening across the country as well as in Fleet.

High Street Solutions events

The High Street Solutions events build on business briefings and the retail panel set up earlier this year. The aim is for businesses to share ideas, cover areas that are of interest to you and hear from all business sectors in Fleet. For now these events will be webinars.

Unlocking the Potential of the High Street
To start this series of events Matt Baker from Rise Associates will lead the discussion Unlocking the Potential of Fleet High Street on Thursday 12th November.

Matt was commissioned by Hart District Council to review the impact of the temporary pedestrianisation in Fleet on the business community. Following discussions with 99 businesses in the town, coupled with his detailed understanding of the changes high streets need to make to not only survive but thrive, Matt is uniquely placed so share his experience and lead the discussion on how we can work together to create a shared vision for our town.

Matt is one of the key contributors to the three Grimsey Reviews, with the most recent published in June 2020. The latest report calls for a reinvigorated leadership model, a massive shift in power to communities & localism on steroids to reinvent our town centres.
